Giggling Squid

I don't often have Thai cuisine, but I actually really like it. Every time I have Thai food, I say "I must have this more often!" Does anyone else have a particular cuisine or dish they say this about?

The spicy prawn crackers are so more-ish and I love the various flavours famous within Thai food. At Giggling Squid, this was no different! The staff were very attentive but did not rush us through our meal. Our water glasses were filled regularly and the service throughout our meal was very good.

The Giggling Squid, Brentwood lunch menu is not as extensive as the dinner selection but still has multiple options of how to build your Thai meal. There are different meal options, depending on how hungry you are! There are several tapas sets, with a collection of 4 dishes per set. These are a really reasonable price, and a good size for a main meal. I chose the 'Hungry Squid', which had everything I'd want in a Thai dish! My personal favourite was the chicken satay - amazing!

Another option is single tapas dishes which you can order either alongside a larger main meal or, as my husband did; four or five tapas dishes. They have larger dishes (like an ordinary size meal), again, for very decent prices. A few people at our table chose to order 'one big dish' plus a tapas as a side dish.

I'm not finished yet! Further down the menu is a 'two dish meal combi' which allows you to order from several options, a starter plus a main meal combination.

There really is something for everyone, and for every appetite!

I would like to return for an evening meal, as there are even more options!

A few of our group chose to finish our meal with desserts. I wanted something refreshing so opted for the Mango and Lime Cheesecake - the picture on the menu sold it to me! The slice was just the right size for me. However, I didn't really get the flavours of mango or lime coming through. The base was buttery and crumbly - a perfect cheesecake base, but the top was slightly warm in places and in the centre was icy?! It wasn't my favourite cheesecake, and I don't think I'd personally bother with a dessert again. My husband chose the chocolate cake. He is a fan of hot and spicy - the spicier the better for him! He adds extra chillies to most of his dishes... He found the Molten Chocolate Cake incredibly spicy and he felt this didn't work well with the chocolate. All personal preference!

Their website is clear and easy to navigate, if you want further information or to look at the menus, visit

I've included some pictures below from our recent visit.
